Your in Southeastern CT. Great…now what?
A little about us:
We moved to the Southeast CT area back in November 2011. We lived in a hotel in Mystic, a rental in Niantic, and settled down in the town of Waterford. In that time, my eldest daughter, RAGTAG Annie, turned 2 and we had a second daughter, RAGTAG Nora, who is now 3 months.
Before we came to CT, we lived in downtown Houston for a year and previous to that we lived for 6 years outside of Boston. Without any friends in this area, we've been desperate to find something to do. The information on what to do, where to do it, and how to get there was available, but it was spread out across a multitude of websites and didn’t include vital details such as “park at the top of the hill instead of at the entrance otherwise you’ll need to trek that mammoth stroller up a mile long path at a 90 degree angle” or ”go to the library storytime an hour early unless you want to get an elbow in the face from another mom trying to nab the last spot for the 15 child limit class.”
So here we are! This is a blog about what to do now that your here near the shores of Southeastern CT. Who am I? I’m Emily O’B. A full-time mom (my preferred way of saying stay-at-home mom), yard sale and thrift store addict, who’s struggling to stay “hip” (do they still use that word?), but can't help her love of chain restaurants (because of all those damn crayons and cartoon-themed plastic cups with covers that keep your kid from turning your booth into the Apple Juice Flood of 2012). To stay hip though, I’ll clarify that I only truly love chain restaurants that strive to use local fresh ingredients, contribute money to the community, and employ surly, tattooed, college kids. Welcome readers!
